Reminder - wikipedia notability criteria
[edit]Since this article has been proposed for deletion and then speedy-deleted, and then came back from the dead, I guess it's necessary to establish some facts:
The notability of musician Xasthur has been the object of a discussion in January 2007. The result was: keep.
I will quote here criteria #5 from Criteria for musicians and ensembles:
"Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)."
As per 2008 Xasthur has released six regular studio albums on various labels, including Hydra Head Records and Southern Lord which have heavy weights such as Sunn O))), Khanate or Earth under contract. This criteria is therefore fulfilled, without any doubt.
Regarding the criteria of notability for specific album pages, they read as follows:
"In general, if the musician or ensemble that recorded an album is considered notable, then officially released albums may have sufficient notability to have individual articles on Wikipedia."
The album that is the object of this article, after being published as a self released demo, has been reissued no less than three times by official music labels. Therefore, if you feel the need to challenge the notability of this particular article, please specify on this talk page why the general wikipedia guidelines wouldn't apply, before adding the tag on the main page.
